78th Air Police Squadron Association Reunion - 2014

At Aspire Hotel and Suites

2634-A Emmitsburg Road, Gettysburg Pennsylvania 17325

The 78th Air Police Squadron Association holds its reunion every two years. Gettysburg, PA was the site of the 2014 reunion held from 9/22/14 through 9/27/14. We had a total of 41 attendees. Our host hotel was the Aspire Hotel and Suites, which is adjacent to the Eisenhower Hotel Complex just outside town. The facility met our needs providing a reasonable room rate; complimentary continental breakfast; and a hospitality room for the duration of our event at no charge. Our group contracted with Gettysburg Group Reservations (GGR) to provide a charter bus and arrange for tours and several meals, all included in a per person package price. GGR's slogan is "One Call Does It All". This is so true. All of GGR's tour and restaurant recommendations were outstanding, and GGR staff went above and beyond to ensure every minor detail was taken care of. Our group visited the following attractions:

Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center
Gettysburg Battle Field (Licensed Guide aboard our bus)
David Wills House
Shriver House
Dwight Eisenhower Farm
One-Day Bus Excursion to Washington, DC (Licensed Guide was aboard our bus with stops at Arlington National Cemetery, War Memorials, and various other monuments)
Hershey's Chocolate World, Hershey, PA
Yuengling Brewery, Pottsville, PA

Gettysburg is a great site for military reunions. In addition to an abundance of historical sites to visit, outlet shopping is close by. As noted above, other points of interest are within a one to two hour drive of Gettysburg such as Washington, DC; Hershey, PA; Pottsville, PA; and Harrisburg, PA (state capitol). Our group had a wonderful time, and our committee received nothing but positive feedback from attendees.

Plans are in the making for our 2016 Reunion; the selected site is San Antonio, TX.
