Reunion Update for 2014:
Our reunions are every other year. We planned this one after we decided to present the Air Force Academy a SEA, Vietnam Pedro Rescue Helicopter Monument, dedicated to the pilots, Firefighter/Rescue, Medics, crew members of the HH43 Helicopters of Air Rescue Service. The original monument is at the Enlisted Heritage Museum, Maxwell/Gunter annex AFB, Montgomery Alabama.
We had a total of 80 reunion attendees enjoy the outstanding facilities of the Academy Hotel, with fine services and great food. Rates were ideal too. Recommend this facility to anyone interested.
Our visit to the Air Force Academy was outstanding, after touring the Base Chapel, we had group photos made. Then our program of presentation and dedication. About 90 attended this event. Then off to the Officers Club for a buffet sandwich lunch, which was really very good. A nice motor-coach ride back to the hotel for an evening of story telling.
Our trip to the Cripple Creek Gold Mine town the next day was not as good, to begin with our bus was half hour late. The tour company didn't really tell us that the city of Cripple Creek was under construction, nor that the time it would take for the mine tour and number of people each trip could handle. The train ride to the area around Cripple Creek only ran certain hours and that was a fluke. I am glad I hadn't prepaid for these, but still I had included the charges to attendees. And, as it turned out, Cripple Creek does not even wake up till around 5 pm and then the eating places are mostly small casinos' and really didn't serve meals till later. It wasn't the best day of touring for our group.
Our banquet that evening was ideal outstanding service and food, great facilities for a group, we had 100 at the banquet. Our next reunion is in 2016 in Dayton Ohio, The Air Force Museum, Hope Hotel. Dates TBA.
