Fredericksburg Regional Tourism Partnership
TIMELESS. That’s the perfect description of the Fredericksburg Region
Located one hour north of Richmond and one hour south of DC and comprised of Fredericksburg, Stafford and Spotsylvania this area has long been known for its rich history enticing travelers blending modern life with small-town charm.
The area has played gracious host to famous and ordinary travelers from many other times. In 1608 Captain John Smith sailed up the uncharted Rappahannock River to the fall line into what is now Fredericksburg and Falmouth. The area’s most famous resident, George Washington, came as a child to Ferry Farm in Stafford County with his family.
It is impossible to forget the battle cries that rang out in Spotsylvania County’s rural crossroads, pastoral farmlands, and tangled forest, forever linking it with the names of Lee, Grant, Jackson, and Burnside of the American Civil War.
This rich history has given the City of Fredericksburg a downtown area full of genuine historical and architectural treasures. Over 350 original 18th and 19th century buildings in the City’s 40-block National Historic District reflect some of the most interesting periods in America’s past.
The staff of the Fredericksburg Regional Tourism Partnership will work closely with your reunion to ensure a successful event from sourcing the hotels to assisting with tours, including trolley tours and historical tours, wineries, breweries or distillery, and evening activities that include the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts. The Fredericksburg region is also in close proximity to Quantico Marine Corps base and the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Washington DC is accessible for a day trip.
Complimentary welcome packets and hospitality tables are also available.
Make memories that will stand the test of time with your military buddies in the Timelessly beautiful and historic Fredericksburg region.
